Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At age 27, he was enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark from which he was graduated in the year 1995. He was also featured in The Killing, a drama series which was broadcast across the world. Then, he appeared in Borgen III and Those Who Kill two critically acclaimed Danish drama series. He also had a leading part in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American television show House of Cards, he played the role of the president of Russia. He received an International Emmy Award in 2018 in recognition of his role in the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. This series was telecast in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in 2019. According to Mikkelsen's story the actor was taught English from his brother listening to Monty Python recordings and watching the sketches of comedy.
